 Set in a scenic and spectacular location in the heart of the Gold Coast hinterland, Tamborine Mountains’ Thunderbird Park is your ideal school camp destination. Providing students with a unique experience for over 15 years, ‘Camp Thunderbird’ has now been redeveloped for today’s modern school camp market. Set amongst 320 acres of dense natural rainforest and Australian bush land, ‘Camp Thunderbird’ is teeming with the ultimate wonders of the very real natural Australia. Providing dormitory style accommodation for up to 122 students and teachers, or up to 280 utilizing additional accommodation styles, ‘Camp Thunderbird’ is suitable for schools of all shapes and sizes. We have two separate Bunkhouses, each with 8 separate rooms sleeping up to 8 students in each. The Bunkhouses also have separate male & female amenities and laundry facilities. There is also a ‘Teachers’ room within the Lower Bunkhouse with 2 single beds, and tea & coffee making facilities. Accompanying the Lower & Upper Bunkhouses is the Sapphire Recreation Room, a large open hall typically used for catering, and indoor night activities. It has a fully equipped kitchen, outdoor BBQ area, open fireplace and seating for up to 122. Our fully qualified chef’s will nutritiously provide specially catered meals for all appetites. We are experts at vegetarian, coeliac, diabetic and low fat menus. Our exceptional team of instructors run a full day program of activities in many and varied locations, allowing students to interact in a fun and natural environment. This helps the students to develop their own individual appreciation of, and commitment to preserve the natural wonders that surround them. Our activities are designed and structured to complement each other, to build trust, leadership, cooperation and initiative – and they all include the main ingredient – FUN!! Thunderbird Park is famous for its "Thunderegg" mine where students can go Fossicking and discover the history behind the ancient "eggs".
