ART AT THUNDERBIRD PARK - 18 & 19 MAY 2013
Fibre Art Mixed Media Photography Jewellery
Workshops
Peter Ellis is a lapidary expert and manager of the Thunderbird Park Rock Shop and Mine. Peter says the formation of thundereggs is a mystery. “Most experts agree the volcanic upheavals that took place millions of years ago formed bubbles in silica-rich material,” he says. The ancient thundereggs are cut to reveal crystal deposits, these are used to create collectable pieces of jewellery and artefacts. Peter will demonstrate cutting and cabbing.
Therese Flynn-Clarke uses seeds, plant fibres and recycled materials to design fascinating baskets, jewellery, art and sculptural pieces. She will hold workshops from 9am to 12pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Fiona Rafferty’s work comprises a range of media and techniques including monochromatic and digital photography, painting, printmaking, drawing, sculpture and hand-stitching. She will hold workshops from 2pm to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Please note : photographer Julie Collins is not able to be present for this studio weekend.
