Thunderbird Park shares its 112 hectare rainforest property with Cedar Creek Lodges on Tamborine Mountain.  
At the southern end of the park, Cedar Creek Lodges' accommodation styles vary from 2-bedroom rainforest Creek Lodges and contemporary hotel rooms to family lodges.  
At the northern end of the park there are powered and unpowered camping sites dotted along the banks of Cedar Creek and the surrounding forest - all with rock bordered fire pits!
 Dogs are permitted on leads.

Thunderbird Park Caravan & Camping

Thunderbird Park is an amazing wildlife and geological rich oasis stretching over 112 hectares of Mt Tamborine, which you can enjoy night and day by staying at our caravan park or camping grounds.

Translucent rock pools, inspiring landscapes, towering rainforests and star-studded skies all add to the magic of Thunderbird Park. Here you'll find the best Tamborine Mountain camping areas and caravan sites which all have their own rock-bordered fire pits, with crates of firewood available for purchase.


We have a variety of powered and unpowered caravan and camping sites available depending on your requirements.

If booking with a group, please provide us with their name (in the comments box when you book). We will do our best to put your group together. However, we cannot guarantee it.

Amenities For Camping

Token operated showers are installed to ensure hot water for all campers and that our valuable water supply is preserved. Tokens can be purchased at reception Sunday to Thursday 8am to 5pm, Friday and Saturday 8am to 7pm. Each token operates a 6 minute water flow, allowing for 5 minutes of hot water.

Check In & Out

Check-in is at 11 a.m. Check-out is at 10 a.m.

Fire Pits

Campfires are usually permitted.
A rock-boarded circular fire pit is available at every van and camp site. You can bring your own firewood or, alternatively, purchase a crate of firewood from reception for $15 per crate. Please note, when booking your van/tent site online, you can select to pre-order wood which will be ready for you at check in.

When total fire ban has been declared campfires must not be lit and any appliance powered by burning solid fuel must not be used.

During your stay at Thunderbird Park, you are responsible for knowing the fire danger rating on each day and whether a fire ban is in effect.

Pet Friendly

• Dogs are permitted throughout our caravan and camping sites (excluding long weekends and school holidays)
• Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.
• Dogs are not to be left unattended during your stay. Our pets don't like being tied up and left alone
• Dogs are not permitted at any of the activities.
• Please note, Pit Bull Terriers are prohibited from the property at all times.
• $15 fee per pet is charged at the time of booking
• Guests must clean up after their pets at all times.


The water onsite is highly chlorinated and is not recommend for drinking. Bring your own water or, alternatively, purchase bottled water from the Terrace Kiosk.

Noise & Nuisance

Please note: we are a very popular family camping ground and your booking is accepted under the understanding that you will comply with Clause 8.1 Noise & Nuisance and our curfew of 10 p.m. This is essential for all of our guests' quiet enjoyment.
