Thunderbird Park is nestled along the boundary of Tamborine National Park that stretches across 112 hectares of subtropical rainforest with lush palm groves and open eucalypt forest with grassy understories.

Our caravan and bush camp sites are a natural oasis where you can enjoy translucent rock pools along Cedar Creek flowing through the property whilst sleeping under the towering star-studded canopy of Tamborine Mountain.

We have a range of both powered and unpowered bush sites available with comfortable and modern amenity blocks, plus a communal camp kitchen. View all facilities and features below!

Thunderbird Park offers the best family-friendly camping in the Gold Coast hinterland.

Children aged 5 and under are FREE OF CHARGE!

Maximum 5-night bookings only. For additional nights, please contact our Reservations Team to discuss. 

There are two amenities blocks in the camping ground, each with the following:

Individual Men's & Women's Block

Each with 2 showers
3 handbasins
2 toilets per block

Camp kitchen which includes:

Central table with 14 chairs (only at Bumblebee)
2 electric BBQ grills, 2 sinks, a microwave oven, kettle and toaster, general waste & recycle bins.
Camp Laundry which has a token operated clothes' dryer and washing machine.
Tokens can be purchased from reception for $3.50 each between 8am - 5pm every day (except Christmas Day).

Guests are required to clean this area after use as it is a shared zone for all campers. Cleaning supplies are not included, so we recommend you bring cleaning cloths (chux cloths), tea towels, scourer and dish washing liquid.

Should you forget these items, don't worry, we have you covered! You can purchase cleaning packs for $3 at the reception desk and Terrace Kiosk.

Please note, the current bathrooms are showing their age and are due to be demolished in early 2023 and a brand new amenities block will be built. We apologise for the current standard, however, it will continue to be routinely cleaned by our housekeeping team. We appreciate your understanding and trust this will not have a negative impact on your stay with us.

Check-out is at 10:00AM

Campfires are usually permitted.

A rock-boarded circular fire pit is available at every van and camp site. You can bring your own firewood or, alternatively, purchase a crate of firewood from reception for $22 per bag. Please note, when booking your van/tent site online, you can select to pre-order wood which will be ready for you at check in.

When total fire ban has been declared campfires must not be lit and any appliance powered by burning solid fuel must not be used.

During your stay at Thunderbird Park, you are responsible for knowing the fire danger rating on each day and whether a fire ban is in effect.

1. Bookings & Payments

1.1 A 100% non-refundable payment is required on all camping bookings. All payments are non-refundable; however, payments can be transferred to another date provided we receive notice 3 or more days in advance. If notice is provided within 3 days of arrival, your payment will be forfeited. If transferring your booking a $25 administration fee will be charged. Your new booking date must be within 12 months of your original booking date and payments can only be transferred once. In the event of price increases, all current rates will apply to your extended booking. Care and consideration are taken at all times with respect to your reservation however in the event an administration error occurs and we are unable to honour your reservation for whatever reason, a full refund will be given to the guest upon approval by property management with no administration deductions.

2. Cancellation

2.1 No shows and cancellations will be subject to 100% cancellation fee. If after arrival, a guest decides to terminate their stay for whatever reason, i.e wet weather, there will be no refund of any monies as your site would have been allocated for your specific dates.

2.2 Force Majeure - Thunderbird Park shall not be liable for failure to perform due to unforeseen circumstances beyond their control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disasters, war, terrorism, government actions, or pandemic. Performance obligations will be suspended during such events, and Cedar Creek Lodges are excused from any resulting liabilities.

3. Payment Methods

4. Travel Insurance

4.1 Thunderbird Park shall not be liable for any loss or damage to guests’ valuables/personal property.
4.2 We strongly recommend you purchase comprehensive travel insurance. We suggest that the policy should include, but not be limited to, the following cover: Loss of deposit through cancellation; loss or damage to personal baggage and loss of money and medical expenses.

5. Reception – Check in & Check out

5.1 Reception is open [Sunday to Thursday – 8am to 5pm] and [Friday and Saturday 8am to 7pm].
5.2 Check in for camping is from 11am and check out 10am. Check in for the Bush Lodges is from 2pm and check out 10am. Check in for the Lotus tents is 4pm and check out is 12pm.
5.3 If you cannot check in or out during the above times, arrangements need to be made prior to your arrival with a reservations team member.

6. Onsite Parking

6.1 There is one car permitted at each camp site or in the allocated parking spaces for the bunk rooms. Second and subsequent cars can unload for a maximum of 15 minutes and then these vehicles are to be parked in the Thunderbird Park main carpark.

7. Environmentally Friendly Resort

7.1 We are an ecological sensitive mountain resort and respectfully request that our guests are like minded.
7.2 Water is our most precious resource, please observe the Scenic Rim Council’s water restrictions, and be conservative with your water usage.
7.3 Keep showers to a minimum, and do not leave taps running.
7.4 We would appreciate that cigarette butts and rubbish are not discarded on or around our property as receptacles are provided.

8. Noise & Nuisance

8.1 Our guests enjoy the tranquility and peace provided. It is important that all guests are aware of other guests’ peaceful inhabitance. There is a 10pm curfew that applies to music and noise.

9. Price Increases

9.1 As of 1st April each year, the new travel year begins. Whilst every effort is made to maintain prices as printed or quoted, they may be subject to increase without notice to cover unforeseen costs.

10. Alcohol – Licensed Venue

10.1 Our Rainforest Restaurant, Lounge Bar and Terrace Kiosk are fully licensed therefore no alcohol is to be brought into these venues.
10.2 Guests found to be drinking their own alcohol in our restaurant or main building will be asked to leave the premises.
10.3 Guests are welcome to bring their own alcohol to their accommodation only. Responsible consumption of alcohol is mandatory. We are a family friendly property and all bookings are accepted on the basis that all guests conduct themselves in a manner that will not interfere with other guests’ quiet enjoyment.

11. Damages

11.1 A $250 damages fee will apply if required following your stay. In extreme cases, additional charges may apply.

12. COVID-19

12.1 In the event your reservation cannot proceed based on changes to regulations or restrictions handed down by the State or Federal Government in relation to COVID-19, the Resort will transfer your booking to new dates (subject to availability), with no applicable fees. Should you choose to cancel your booking, please refer to the cancellation clause (2).

More Information

Dogs are permitted throughout our caravan and camping sites.
Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times,
Dogs are not to be left unattended during your stay. Our pets don't like being tied up and left alone.
Dogs are not permitted at any of the activities.
Please note, Pit Bull Terriers are prohibited from the property at all times,
$15 fee per pet is charged at the time of booking,
Guests must clean up after their dogs at all times.
Cats are not permitted.

The water onsite is safe to drink, but is highly chlorinated and is not recommended for drinking.

Bring your own water or, alternatively, purchase bottled water from the Terrace Kiosk.

We are a very popular family camping ground and have a strict NO PARTY policy.

Your booking is accepted under the understanding that you will comply with Clause 8.1 Noise & Nuisance and our curfew of 10:00PM.

This is essential for all of our guests' quiet enjoyment.
